The Disused Quarry at Kit Hill

Formerly owned by the Duchy of Cornwall, Kit Hill was given to the people of Cornwall in 1985 to celebrate the birth of Prince William. Its 400 acres (154 hectares) are now open for public enjoyment. Kit Hill is an ideal place for picnicking, bird watching, kite flying and walking. With several miles of paths there are excellent opportunities for walking and exploring. Look out for:A 2 mile circular way-marked walk; A 3 mile circular Horse Trail.

The old quarry pool has become a valued wetland, coming alive with frogs and toads in spring and dragonflies in late summer. Nature has even reclaimed the mine workings with bats roosting deep underground.
